Now that you have bought your crypto, it is time to transfer it and fund your Metamask wallet.
Withdrawing ETH to your Metamask wallet
Depositing ETH to your Metamask wallet is very simple but the process can be slightly different depending on which platform you bought your ETH.
Follow the instructions on this video, or use the FAQs of your chosen brokerage platform to deposit ETH into your Metamask wallet.
Please note, once your ETH is in your Metamask wallet, you will need to bridge it to the Avalanche C-Chain. Here is how.
Withdrawing AVAX to your Metamask wallet
Withdrawing AVAX to your Metamask wallet is simple.
Follow the instructions on this video, or use the FAQs of your chosen brokerage platform to deposit ETH into your Metamask wallet.
Please note, when withdrawing AVAX to your Metamask wallet, it automatically sends it to the Avalanche C-Chain, so there is no need to perform any steps thereafter. The AVAX is in your wallet, on the Avalanche chain, and you are ready to purchase.
Bridging (transfering) your ETH to the Avalanche C-Chain
Once you have ETH in your Metamask wallet, you need to get it “bridged” to the Avalanche network. Use the Avalanche Bridge to do so.
The process is simple, and takes a few minutes. Essentially, the bridge will be performing 2 transaction::
- Wrapping ETH into WETH (Wrapped ETH)
- Bridging (transfering) your WETH to the Avalanche C-Chain
Please make sure to only use the bridge using a desktop and the Google Chrome browser. There have been various issues using the bridge using mobile devices.
Step 1: Connect your Metamask wallet to the Avalanche Bridge and in the From section select ETH, and the amount of ETH you would like to bridge. You will see in the To section that your ETH will be sent to the Avalanche network and will become WETH.e (Wrapped ETH).
Click on Transfer and start the process.
Step 2: Confirm the Metamask transaction, which will incur some gas fees.
Step 3: Your ETH will be automatically Wrapped, and then transferred to the Avalanche chain. This process usually takes between 5 and 15 minutes.
